Honeymoon With My Brother

I just couldn’t finish this one! What to do when the memoir is written by someone who you don’t like? Stop reading.

Honeymoon With My Brother – A Memoir  |  author: Franz Wisner  |  date published: 2/2005  |  date read: 5/2024

After reading some heavy books (Mackenzie Phillips for one), I thought this would be a lighter read. And the first three or so chapters were good. The wedding, and when he got “left at the alter” (which wasn’t actually true as he had a weeks notice) were interesting probably due to the inclusion of his ex. At least he sounded like an actual person. It went south pretty much as soon as they hit the road in the new Saab. The first road-trip sex scene is where I gave up on this book and the writer. Not because I have anything against a sex scene, but this one was so poorly written, so awkward, that I didn’t want to have to read any more of his “adventures.”.

Side note: Best part of the book was how back in the 90’s you could buy a Saab in Sweden and they would fly you over to Sweeden, put you up in a hotel, and cover your insurance while you drove through Europe. Trip over, you took the Saab back and they shipped it to the US for you. Wow!
