Dated? is that why it doesn’t work for me? Or was it all the distracting footnotes?
Consider the Lobster and other essays | author: David Foster Wallace | published: 1/05| date read 6/24
Haven’t read anything by David Foster Wallace so was interested in giving this a go, especially with the cool title but alas, either it’s just to dated to no longer pique my interest, or it’s just not for me. I started out enthusiastic about the “A Dictionary of Modern American Usage” but was soon bogged down by the details. Thought I’d give “Big Red Son” a try, a detailed 1998 AVN Awards. Nope again, so I never got to the lobster story, Tracy Austin, John McCain or conservative talk radio host. None of those topics would interest me on a good day no matter how well they’re written. Much as I didn’t like the topics or the footnotes, I did enjoy the writing, so maybe not a full loss of time.
